•Smallmouth Bass – Commissioned Original 1996

This was the last piece I created while still a resident of Minnesota. It was commissioned by a woman who wanted it as a gift for her husband. She chose the Smallmouth Bass because it was his favorite fish to catch. I would have to agree I have had many a battle with this tough fighting fish, taking on one of these from deep water is one of the best fights you’ll ever have with a fish. The fish sits atop a piece of driftwood and a carved Black Walnut rock, which in turn is mounted to a turned rock base. When she came to pick this piece up she had in the back of her vehicle, an original painting of her husband with his dog painted by Norman Rockwell’s daughter, now that’s something you don’t see everyday. This piece went for $850 to this very pleased and satisfied woman.
