• Trout – Natural Original 2003

I’ve always wanted to carve a fish and leave the beauty of the wood shine through. I dug through my collection of Butternut wood and choose a piece with a grain that would flow with the shape of the fish. I choose to keep it simple, no inserted fins, no scales, no glass eyes, just a naturally flowing fish sculpture. The base is a real rock collected from Lake Superior and chosen for its color and shape. I carved and painted the black mounting piece, keeping simple and flowing. Once the shaping and sanding was complete it was painted with a high gloss black finish. The piece sold for $250.
